According to the Sane Shargh Technology Company, a mobile or portable substation is a collection of equipment including power and auxiliary transformers, moderate and strong pressure switchgears, moderate and strong pressure measurement equipment with containers including control, metering and AC/DC equipment and panels.

The mobile substations can be manufactured either air insulated (AIS) or gas insulated (GIS) by Sane Shargh Technology Company.
